Tailgate Talent Show 2022 Audition Rules & Regulations:
Register! Every contestant must register on the Submit Audition page, completing the online form and submitting a video of their act. From all registered contestants, a to-be-determined number of acts or performers will be selected to perform on the show.
Use of Original Material: All music and content used must be original. No commercial or copyrighted material is allowed to be used. This means singers must use original music that they have permission to perform live and on television. If you arrive with a cover song and without an original song to perform, you will NOT be allowed to perform.
Under 18? Every contestant under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to audition and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at the performance taping.
Photo ID: Everyone will require photo ID in order to attend the audition, including each member of a group.
Animal Acts: Additional Paperwork Required! Any acts involving an animal must arrive at the audition with up to date paperwork from your veterinarian.
Length of Acts: Any act selected for the taping will be limited to a MAX. time limit of 2 MINUTES, unless otherwise specified by our producers. If you exceed this time, it may reflect poorly on your results from the judges. Choose the portion of your piece that highlights your abilities (i.e. singers find the song which best features your vocal range and abilities.)
All material performed must be original. No copyright or cover songs.

You will be allowed a short sound check
You must stay until filming of your episode is complete
Come prepared to tell your story! You’ll be interviewed on camera
We are filming a TV show, so be aware that you will appear on TV throughout the day.
There will be 2 judges critiquing and providing feedback after your performance. After everyone has performed, they will chose 1 act to move onto the FINALE episode for a shot at the $1000 grand prize.

Due to COVID we are proceeding as safely as we can so there will be some limitations to our production. Here are some of the protocols we will be following during filming:
All contestants will be required to complete a health survey when they arrive. This survey may be completed ahead of time and provided to registration when signing in.
Each act is allowed to bring one supporter/fan
Acts must maintain social distancing from each other
Hand sanitizer and face masks will be provided
Filming will occur outdoors
This will not be a public event
Where necessary microphones and equipment will be cleaned and swapped out between performances
You will be required to arrive on time and remain until your episode is finished filming
Clean washroom facilities will be provided

Can I perform a cover song for my audition? You may NOT perform a cover song. All music and content used must be original. No commercial or copyrighted material is allowed to be used. If you arrive with a cover song and without an original song to perform, you will NOT be allowed to perform.
I am doing a vocal number for my audition. What are my choices for background music?
You may use the following to audition:
Original/copyright free recorded tracks
Original/copyright free karaoke tracks consisting of background vocals only, no lead or no vocals at all
Your own pianist/guitarist to accompany you
Your own band to accompany you
YOU MAY NOT USE TRACKS WITH LEAD LINE VOCALS ON THEM.
** AGAIN, ALL MUSIC AND CONTENT MUST BE ORIGINAL. No commercial or copyrighted material is allowed to be used. This means singers must use original music that they have permission to perform live and on television. For some performers (dancers & magicians), royalty-free music may be able to be provided for your audition by Rainey Media Inc.
I am a dance or novelty act. What are my options for musical playback at the audition? Please provide us with an Mp3 of your song via email or bringing it with you on a USB. You can also use a 1/8” audio jack works i.e. tablet/iPhone.
I’m a novelty act. What if my act involves dangerous items? No fire, sharp objects, weapons, explosives (pyrotechnics) allowed.
I am auditioning or I am part of a group auditioning, does everyone need to provide ID? Every member of your group must show photo ID.
How long will the live taping take? The taping of each episode may take a few hours, as our crew will be filming other segments of the show alongside the performances.
How long is my audition to be? Each Act will have 2 MINUTES for their performance. They will be allowed a short sound check beforehand
What equipment does the show provide? The show provides the required microphones, stands, instrument cables and a house drum kit.
What clothing should I wear? Please wear appropriate clothing. (No logos/band shirts and no shirts with busy patterns)
